After uploading montages and short videos for the past decade, I wanted to explore making a Destiny raid guide in a video format. Typically, these types of guides are voice over with narration to explain the mechanics and details. I tried something different, where the atmosphere, immersion, music, cinematography, and editing had top priority while also presenting this guide as a story.
My main driving force was the music from the excellent team at Bungie. I wanted each encounter and chapter to flow with the music.
Additionally, multiple runs of the raid had to be filmed to get all the necessary shots. I had to direct my team to purposely go slower to ensure each mechanic was properly demonstrated.
Lastly, I tied in motion graphics to achieve Destiny's aesthetic. From the cartographical radials to the eases in the animations, the motion graphics help visually convey the highlights and details.
