With the debut of the Destiny Content Vault, a majority of story content has been removed. As a result, new players are given a single introduction mission, then thrown to the ongoing story.
I wanted to create a website that can be useful to new and returning players.
My goal to accomplish this was to create a dynamic timeline. It would update real-time to present information to the user according to their selections.
This is accomplished through the settings page. The user can select the information they want to see to either recap or learn about the ongoing story of Destiny.
The timeline is then dynamically updated based on the selections.
The aesthetic of the site mimics Destiny's typography and style, from the CSS animations on buttons to the rotating planetary carousel.
On the backend, the manifest can be easily updated to accommodate new additions.
The backend was coded to make the site as efficient and fast as possible.
This is achieved through lazy loading the components, modules, and images.
Different aspect ratios were also taken into consideration, hence the site is reactive.
Shareability was the last major pillar for this site. The site is designed so that if a veteran Destiny player wanted to share a page, the timeline navigates to the correct node and the settings are adjusted accordingly.
Upcoming features that are in development includes a translation option and integration of Ishtar Collective's database.
